TCS Starter Website Package

Building a website for your new business used to be a luxury. These days it’s a necessity, and even so-called “brick and mortar” establishments have abandoned the notion that their business can thrive without an online component. Side-By-Side Scrolling DIVs

July 30th, 2009 No comments

So, the issue is that you want side-by side divs with scrollable content on each side. Don’t use iFrames. Why? Because it breaks most validation: HTML 4.1, Strict DTD, and XHTML 1.0 Strict DTD. Instead, if you are pulling all your content from your own site, use includes or code everything on the same page and use divs.

You can fill content as much as you want, and your right div won’t move.

Now you can play with and set the margins & padding to taste, add borders, and make everything look cool.

If offers any consolation, even some of the biggest players on the Web are finding it difficult to attract and retain site visitors, particularly in today’s difficult economic climate. In a study recently released by Digital Business (Silicon Alley Insider), it was reported that Nielsen group studies since January of 2008 found a consistent drop in Ebay’s unique site visitorship by an average of 6% per month.  Some of this decline is likely the result of the economy.  The rest of it is likely the result of some common trends when it comes to websites and business: competition, pricing, and value proposition.
