TCS Starter Website Package

Building a website for your new business used to be a luxury. These days it’s a necessity, and even so-called “brick and mortar” establishments have abandoned the notion that their business can thrive without an online component. As a result, most have become “click and mortar” operations, allowing their customers to choose between the virtual or physical world.

How TCS Vision Can Help

TCS has developed a turnkey business website package that makes the Website process easy and affordable for any business owner in need of a top-quality Website. Our process is geared toward the business owner who needs to establish a professional Web presence quickly and without hassle. Read more…

Should You Consider Server-Based Computing?

August 7th, 2009 No comments

What is server-based computing?

Server-based computing (SBC) is a technology whereby applications are deployed, managed, supported and executed on the server and not on the client. Instead only the screen information is transmitted between the server and client. This architecture solves the many fundamental problems that occur when executing the applications on the client itself.

In SBC environments hardware & software upgrades, application deployment, technical support, and data storage & backup are simplified because only the servers need to be managed. Data and applications reside on a few servers rather then on hundreds or thousands of clients. PCs become terminals and can be replaced by simpler, less expensive and most importantly easier to manage devices called “thin clients.” Read more…

2X Solves Printing Issues

2X Printing

2X Universal Printing is used to solve printer driver problems. If a 2X client is using a printer which the server does not have a suitable printer driver, normal printing redirection will not work. Using 2X Universal Printing you do not need to install the specific printer driver on the server. Only one printer is shown on the server irrespective of the number of users and sessions currently in use on the terminal server thus avoiding confusion. The 2X Universal Printer driver comes in 32 and 64 bit format. Read more…

Side-By-Side Scrolling DIVs

July 30th, 2009 No comments

So, the issue is that you want side-by side divs with scrollable content on each side. Don’t use iFrames. Why? Because it breaks most validation: HTML 4.1, Strict DTD, and XHTML 1.0 Strict DTD. Instead, if you are pulling all your content from your own site, use includes or code everything on the same page and use divs.

You can fill content as much as you want, and your right div won’t move.

Now you can play with and set the margins & padding to taste, add borders, and make everything look cool.

What Businesses Need To Know About Server Virtualization

July 25th, 2009 No comments

Server virtualization is a technology that has been rapidly adopted by big and small businesses alike over the past few years. It allows companies to run several systems and applications, be it Windows, Mac or open-source programs like Linux on a single piece of physical hardware called a virtual machine. It reduces IT costs, since these companies have to buy and maintain fewer computing resources. And some companies can save more money than others because these companies may optimize their servers differently from each other. Read more…

Planning Your Terminal Services Project

For Microsoft-based customers, the backbone of any successful thin-client or server-based rollout is Terminal Services. Regardless of choice (whether Citrix, 2X, Microsoft Server 2008, Xen, or a combination thereof with VMWare VDI solutions) a properly planned and executed Terminal Services environment is critical. It is important to note that the same limitations apply in terms of scalability, Microsoft terminal server licensing, and environment capacity planning. Read more…

Our New Billboard

Our New Billboard

We’re excited to announce that Schneck TCS is now live on a billboard near you! This month, TCS has launched a new advertising campaign to bring greater visibility and exposure to businesses in and around the southeastern Wisconsin area. As we continue to grow, all of us at TCS would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your trust, loyalty, and continued business.

Our new billboard, which will run until the end of April, will be rotated throughout the digital billboard system in the metro Milwaukee and surrounding areas. It can currently be viewed in rotation on the digital billboard located along eastbound I-94 near highway 16.

The new campaign emphasizes our membership in the Better Business Bureau and the Schneck TCS commitment to its membership standards – among them trust, truth, transparency, and integrity.

Volume Licensing Advantage

What Proper Software Licensing Can Do For Your Business

Have you ever purchased a laptop or a workstation for an employee only to find out that the version of the operating system that was included with the machine was not compatible with your environment? Have you ever purchased multiple copies of a particular application and thought, “Why did I just pay so much money for multiple copies of the same software just because I need a license for every running copy?” Read more…

Are WiFi Networks Secure?

March 12th, 2009 No comments

Are Wireless Networks Really Secure?

As of late, one of the hot topics in technology has been the discussion about the Wireless Equivalent Protection (WEP) having been broken. It is true that the protocol has effectively been rendered (for all intensive IT security purposes) useless and should be avoided. Researchers at the Darmstadt University of Technology in Darmstadt, Germany have proven that WEP can be broken with as few as 40,000 captured packets. What does this mean to you? An intruder could potentially recover your passkey in a short time and gain access to your WEP-encrypted network.
